In a nail biting victory over a stubborn Swartz Creek team Bay City Central achieved history on Friday night.    A 13-12 win over the Dragons gave Bay City Central its 500th victory in High School football making it just the 12th team in the State of Michigan to have 500 wins.   Coming off a sub-par season in 2015 the Wolves have high hopes for the 2016 campaign.

Head Coach Morley Fraser now entering his 31st season as Head Coach of the Bay City Central Wolves spoke highly of team moments after the clock sounded to signal the 13-12 win.   I questioned Coach Fraser asking him how "He" felt right now at this moment winning the 500th game in school history.   "I'm so proud of those kids, players.   The way that they moved down the field and scored with minutes remaining in the game to secure the victory.   Walkowiak, Weathers and all of the players pulled together to get this victory for the team."

Bay City Central would get on the scoreboard first with a 15 yard touchdown pass  in the first quarter from Robert Walkowiak to Tanner Koth to take a 7-0 lead.   Swartz Creek would then come back and score the next two touchdowns and fail both times when attempting a two point conversation.    The 12-7 would hold up until 2:23 left  in the fourth quarter when Robert Walkowiak would run a boot leg to the home side of the field for a nine yard touchdown.   Central's two point attempt failed leaving the score 13-12.

The Wolves defense rose to the challenge and shut down the Swartz Creek offense and turned the ball back to the Wolves.   After a couple of secure runs by Dequez Weathers quarterback Robert Walkowiak was able to take "a couple of knees" to run the clock out.  Dequez Weathers would rush for 140 yards on the night.  Bay City Central with only 11 seniors on the 46 man roster had several underclassman step up and play some good football on this historic night in Bay City Central history.    Bay City will now host Midland Dow next Thursday at Engel Stadium.
