The Great Lakes Loons (56-59) dropped the first game of a 4-game road series game 10-9 to the West Michigan Whitecaps in a resumption of last night's game that was suspended when the two teams were tied 9-9 after nine innings of play, then was finished prior to the start of a 6-0 loss to the Whitecaps at Fifth Third Ballpark in Comstock Park, MI tonight.
Last night, the Loons had a 7-1 lead in the top of the fourth inning, before West Michigan scored 3-runs in the bottom of the fourth and another 4-runs in the bottom of the sixth, and 1-run in the seventh.
Andre Scrubb (4-2, 1.62 ERA) was charged with his second loss of the season after giving up the winning run on 1-hit and 2-walks, with 1-strikeout through 1 2/3 innings.
Loons center fielder Jeren Kendall was 4 for 6 with 2-RBI's and 2-runs scored lead the offense, while second baseman Gavin Lux was 3 for 5 with 1-run scored. Loons DH Carlos Rincon was 3 for 6 with an RBI and a run, while catcher Stevie Berman was 2 for 6 with an RBI and 2-runs scored to round out last night's offense for the Loons.
Tonight, the Loons gave up 2-runs in the third and eighth innings respectively, along with single runs in the fourth and sixth, while only managing 4-total hits in a 6-0 loss to the Whitecaps.
Great Lakes starter Leo Crawford (6-10, 4.82 ERA) was charged with his sixth loss of the season after giving up 4-runs on 8-hits and 5-walks, with 1-strikeout through 5-innings in the nightcap.
First baseman Jared Walker had 2-doubles to go 2 for 3 to lead the Loons offense in the second game tonight. Rincon was 1 for 3 and Lux was 1 for 4, accounting for the other 2 Great Lakes hits tonight.
The Loons will try to get back on track in the third game of third series at 7 pm tomorrow night.
