The problems have hit 'crisis level' for the Great Lakes Loons (44-46) who dropped its seventh straight game following a 9-1 loss to a team with the worst record (35-54) in the entire Midwest League, the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (Milwaukee Brewers) at Dow Diamond tonight.

Loons starter Imani Abdullah dug himself into an early hole when Wisconsin second baseman Trevor Morrison ripped a 1-out single, stole second base, then scored after Great Lakes shortstop Gavin Lux booted a grounder off the bat of catcher Mario Feliciano, giving the Timber Rattlers a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning.

Feliciano then scored on an RBI double by left fielder Weston Wilson to extend the Wisconsin lead to 2-0 midway through the first inning.

Abdullah (0-2, 6.75 ERA) was replaced by Christian Stolo and charged with his second loss of the season after giving up 2-runs (1-earned) on 2-hits and 1-walk through 2/3 of an inning.

Lux (4) made good on his earlier error with a lead off home run in the bottom of the first inning, his fourth of the season to get the Loons to within a run (2-1) of the Timber Rattlers.

After escaping a bases loaded jam in the top of the second, Stolo's night would come to an end when the first three batters hit safely (single, double, double) scoring 1-run to give Wisconsin a 3-1 lead with nobody out.

Reliever Chris Matthewson replaced Stolo and instantly gave up a 2-RBI double on the first pitch to increase the Wisconsin lead to 5-1 as both runs were charged to Stolo.

Stolo (4.31 ERA) left after giving up 3-runs on 3-hits and 2-walks, while striking out 2-batters through 1 2/3 innings of relief.

After the lead off home run to Lux and a walk to DH Cody Thomas in the first inning, Wisconsin starter Zack Brown retired 16 consecutive Great Lakes batters, before second baseman Brendon Davis blooped a single to right field with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Brown (3-4, 3.63 ERA) earned the win after giving up just the 1-run on 2-hits and 2-walks, while striking out 8 Great Lakes batters through 6 1/3 innings.

The Timber Rattlers added another run in the top of the seventh thanks to back to back errors by Loons infielders to take a 6-1 lead.

Matthewson was having a pretty decent night until Wisconsin third baseman Gilbert Lara led off the top of the eighth with a double and scored on a sac fly RBI, before Wilson belted a 2-run home run, his third of the season for a 9-1 Timber Rattler lead.

Matthewson (3.83 ERA) was chased after giving up 4-runs on 6-hits and 2-walks, while striking out 5-batters through 5 2/3 innings.

Loons closer Andre Scrubb (1.35 ERA) gave up a hit and a walk, while striking out 1-batter in the final inning.

The home run by Lux and the bloop single by Davis were the only two Great Lakes hits tonight.

The Loons will try to salvage the final game of this 3-game series at 7:05 pm tomorrow night, before the Beloit (WI.) Snappers (Oakland A's) come to town for a three game series Sat-Mon at Dow Diamond.
