On one of the two Kid's Day at the Dow Diamond the Great Lakes Loons defeated the Dayton Dragons 2-1 in 11 innings.   With the temperature warming up as the day went on from the 10:35 a.m. start the Loons enjoyed playing in front of the Sold Out crowd.    The Loons who gathered 10 hits on the day but couldn't put anything on the scoreboard after the 2nd inning.   It wasn't until the 11th inning when they stringed together 3 straight hits to push a run across the plate in walk off fashion.

Alex Santana would score the winning run for the Loons (13-17) on a base hit from Brian Wolfe.    Dragon center fielder Nick Benedetto made an outstanding effort on trying to catch the gap shot by Wolfe in left center field.   He actually had the ball in his glove but when he hit the ground it came flying out and the winning run crossed the plate.   This put to history the current Loons 5 game losing streak.

The ever popular Kid's Day at Dow Diamond is where area schools send thousands of students to a morning start time for a field trip.   This season the Great Lakes Loons are having the two Kid's Day games back to back.    The weather played a major factor in moving them back to a later date in the school calendar year.   But these games always draw a Sell Out crowd to the game and then get the students in becoming baseball fans for the future.
