The University of Michigan completely dominated the University of Maryland on Saturday at the Big House 59-3.  It was the second largest victory this season for the 9-0 Wolverines.   On a picture perfect day with temperatures in the mid 60's and the sun shining the Wolverines would have a record setting day.    They would pile up 660 total yards on offense and the defensive unit is really coming together by only allowing a field goal in the second half.

Quarterback Wilton Speight is coming into his own by leading the Wolverines to an undefeated season at this point.  Speight would finish the day with 19-for-24 passing and a career high 362 yards along with two touchdown passes.   Michigan would score touchdowns on every drive except one during the day (the other drive resulted in a field goal).    De'Veon Smith had another strong day rushing with 114 yards and 3 touchdowns.  This 2016 team is starting to remind me of the 1997 Michigan team that went undefeated and won the National Championship.

Michigan has 3 games remaining on the schedule and most likely a trip to the Big Ten Conference Championship game.   That would leave them set to play in the National Championship playoffs with the top four teams competing.   Currently Michigan is ranked #2 in several polls and #3 in the Playoff ranking to date.

In addition to Speight have a record day Jake Butts scored a 37 yard touchdown catch which would move into the all-time leader for tight ends in receiving yardage.   Wilton Speight was virtually unstoppable in the first half by going 13-for 16 and 292 passing yards.

Michigan now has a tough road game at Iowa night next Saturday night and come home to the Big House for the final time in 2016 to face Indiana.   The regular season will conclude in Columbus against Ohio State on November 26th.  I'm starting to get a good vibe from this Michigan team under the stern leadership of Head Coach Jim Harbaugh.
