Spirit sign four players to OHL standard player agreements for the 2017-18 season

The Saginaw Spirit announced the signing's of Camaryn Baber, Ben Badalamenti, Nate Boomhower, and Ryan Stepien to Ontario Hockey League standard player agreements in an email press release from the team this afternoon. 
 
“As an organization, we are pleased these four players have committed to be a part of the Saginaw Spirit family,” the press release said. “By signing Camaryn, Ben, Nate, and Ryan we continue to build our team with homegrown talent. Each one of these four players brings a different element that we feel will help our team be successful.”
 
Baber, a 16 year old forward from Sault Ste. Marie, ON was drafted by the Spirit in the third round (57th overall) of the 2017 OHL priority selection draft back in April after being named the Northern Ontario Hockey Association's 2016-17 player of the year following a 62-point (32-goals, 30-assists) in 32-games for the Soo Greyhounds' midget Triple-A team last year. 
 
Badalamenti is a 2016 free agent right wing who was invited to Spirit training camp where he impressed coaches, earning himself a roster spot. The 6-foot, 180-pound 17 year old from Harrison Township, MI spent last season playing for the Honeybaked program following 3-seasons in the Little Caesars' program. Badalamenti totaled 4-points (2-goals, 2-assists) in 5-games for Team Navy at the 2015-16 USA Select 15 tournament and 3-points (1-goal, 2-assists) in 5-games for Team Black at the 2016-17 USA Select 16 tournament.
 
Boomhower, a 6-foot-1, 203-pound, 17 year old forward from Belleville, ON became Saginaw's first ever pick in the OHL's inaugural under-18 priority selection draft, following an impressive 50-point (30-goals, 20-assists) season in just 38-games for the Quinte Red Devils' minor midget team last season. 
 
Stepien, a 15 year old forward from Stoney Creek, ON led the South Central Triple-A Ontario Minor Midget Hockey Association with 44-points (27-goals, 17-assists) in 34 games for the Hamilton Jr. Bulldogs minor midget team last season, before he was selected in the third round (41st overall) of the 2017 OHL priority selection draft. Stepien had an impressive prospects camp with the Spirit back in May, and followed that performance with an equally impressive training camp which he capped off with 2-goals in the Blue/White game this past Wed. night. 
 
All four players will join the Spirit for the opening of its exhibition season this weekend when the Spirit host the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds at 7 pm Saturday evening at the Dow Event Center in Sagiinaw, MI, then travel up to the Soo for an away exhibition game at the Essar Centre to play a 4 pm afternoon game Sunday in the Soo.
 
Tickets for Saturday's exhibition game will be general admission at a cost of $7 apiece and will be available at the Dow Event Center box office.
