With the sun shining upon Apple Mountain Resort, Saginaw's Bruce Eccleton won the top honors in the Open Division of the 61st annual Saginaw District Golf Invitational during a nail-biting two-hole sudden death playoff against three-time District champion Mike Pumford.  The three-day 72-hole tournament determines the best amateur golfer in Saginaw County and consisted of 72 golfers in the final field: 48 in the Open Division and 24 in the Legends Division for players 50 years and older.

Bruce eagled the 18th hole in regulation play and then eagled it again to win the playoff.  This was Eccleton's first win.  Pumford was going for an unprecedented 4th consecutive District title.

Alan Pumford won his 3rd consecutive Fred Martin, Jr. Senior Championship.  The Senior Championship goes to the low scoring player in the Open Division who is 50 years of age or older.
