A Night to Remember

Over 325 people filled the Genevieve Ballroom at Lumber Barons in Bay City on the evening of April 12th to honor top musicians in 60 categories of Rock, Country, Jazz, Blues & Miscellaneous divisions of the 29th Annual Review Music Awards Ceremony. Over 6000 votes were cast by music fans over a 3 month period from January through March of this year, with 948 musicians nominated throughout the Great Lakes Bay region.

Triumph & Tragedy for the ‘Best Metal Band’ of 2015

One of the big surprises at this year’s 29th Annual Review Music Awards was the huge win by Dies To Rise, who managed to ascend above eleven other nominated bands to secure the honor of Best Metal Band – a distinction they quickly rose to share with veteran rockers Burnaround one of the area’s more established bands that have earned this honor numerous times at past ceremonies.

Matt Besey dominated the Blues categories for the second year in a row at the 29th Annual RMA’s, edging into the Rock category as well with a Best Songwriter trophy, while proving once again that his expressive abilities as a musical artist are undeniably unique. Since he first surfaced as a musical wunderkind from Frankenmuth in the early ‘90s, Besey secured honors for Best Blues Band in 1999-2000, 2002, 2004-2005, and 2009-2010.

As individuals, as a duo, or with their full band, Mandi Layne and Greg Kevorkian are not new to winning honors at the Review Music Awards.
