The Saginaw Spirit (0-1-1-0) had to settle for just 1-point in the OHL standings after failing to convert on a five minute power play in order to break a 2-2 tie late in the third period, before eventually losing the home opener 3-2 in overtime to the London Knights (1-1-0-0) in front of 3,073 Spirit faithful at the Dow Event Center in downtown Saginaw, MI tonight.

The Saginaw Spirit announced today that five players are leaving for various NHL training camps. Goal tender Evan Cormier, forward Cole Coskey, defenseman Keaton Middleton, defenseman Marcus Crawford, and forward Brady Gilmour will be away from the team until Sep. 18, when the last NHL training camp wraps up.
