Jason Marcoux


Jason Marcoux has been a sports writer and reporter for Review Magazine since 2001 after majoring in journalism at Central Michigan University. His first story for Review Magazine was a feature on local NBA basketball player Jason Richardson, who was playing his first NBA game at the Palace of Auburn Hills in the 2001-02 NBA season.

He has also covered High School football, basketball, Cross Country, Swimming, Baseball, and Hockey as a freelance journalist for The Saginaw News and Mlive.com.

Jason has been Review Magazine's lead beat writer for the Los Angeles Dodgers' single A affiliate the Great Lakes Loons of the Midwest League since the 2010 season. He covered the Loons' 2016 MWL Championship.

 

He has also been Review Magazine's lead beat writer for the Saginaw Spirit of the Ontario Hockey League since the 2009-10 season.

 

Jason was the lead beat writer covering the Continental Indoor Football League's Saginaw Sting from 2008 through the 2015 season. He would cover the Sting's back to back championships in 2011 (UIFL) and 2012 (CIFL).

At a press conference on Thursday afternoon at Dow Diamond, The Great Lakes Loons announced its plans for the festivities surrounding the 53rd annual Midwest League All Star Game presented by GoGreat.com which is set to take place in Midland, MI on Monday and Tuesday June 19-20 at Dow Diamond.

Luis Paz (2) a 6-foot-1 prospect in the Los Angeles Dodgers' organization from Mirilia, Brazil belted a walk-off home run to break a 4-4 tie in the bottom of the ninth inning, to give the Great Lakes Loons a 5-4 victory over the Fort Wayne Tincaps (San Diego Padres) at Dow Diamond this afternoon.

Great Lakes Loons players Brendon Davis and Carlos Rincon have been two of the premiere hitters in the Midwest League this season, however, after a recent mini-slump the pair came into tonight's game hitting a combined 3 for 28 over the previous few games.

After putting up 5-runs on 8-hits (in a 5-4 win Monday) followed by 6-runs on 8-hits (in a 9-6 loss last night) the Great Lakes Loons (currently 4-9 in the Midwest League standings) only managed 1-hit in a 3-0 loss in the deciding game of a 3-game road series to the South Bend Cubs (Chicago Cubs) at Four Winds Field in South Bend, IN tonight.

Former Arthur Hill H.S. Basketball star Brian 'Tugs' Bowen added another piece of hardware to his growing collection after being name co-MVP (along with University of Miami FL commit Lonnie Walker Jr.) at the Jordan Brand Classic boys national game in Brooklyn, NY this afternoon. The game was nationally televised on ESPN.

For the second straight year, a Saginaw area hockey player was drafted in the Ontario Hockey League priority selection draft. After former Jr. Spirit and Oakland Jr. Grizzlies' defenseman Lucas Crawford was selected by the Owen Sound Attack last year, another Jr. Spirit/Oakland Jr. Grizzlies alum followed suit.
