Jason Marcoux


Jason Marcoux has been a sports writer and reporter for Review Magazine since 2001 after majoring in journalism at Central Michigan University. His first story for Review Magazine was a feature on local NBA basketball player Jason Richardson, who was playing his first NBA game at the Palace of Auburn Hills in the 2001-02 NBA season.

He has also covered High School football, basketball, Cross Country, Swimming, Baseball, and Hockey as a freelance journalist for The Saginaw News and Mlive.com.

Jason has been Review Magazine's lead beat writer for the Los Angeles Dodgers' single A affiliate the Great Lakes Loons of the Midwest League since the 2010 season. He covered the Loons' 2016 MWL Championship.

 

He has also been Review Magazine's lead beat writer for the Saginaw Spirit of the Ontario Hockey League since the 2009-10 season.

 

Jason was the lead beat writer covering the Continental Indoor Football League's Saginaw Sting from 2008 through the 2015 season. He would cover the Sting's back to back championships in 2011 (UIFL) and 2012 (CIFL).

Former Saginaw Arthur Hill H.S. basketball standout Brian Bowen Jr. (ranked No. 12 in the country on ESPN 100) is headed back to the Dick's Sporting Goods National Championship game for a second straight year after leading his (28-1) No. 1 seed La Lumiere Prep H.S. (La Porte, IN.) boys basketball team to a 54-52 semi-final victory over Findlay Prep H.S. (UT.) in a game which was broadcast nationally on ESPN from Christ the King H.S. in Middle Village, NY earlier this afternoon.

The Great Lakes Loons will initiate the defense of its 2016 Midwest League Championship when it kicks off the 2017 MWL season with a four game home-and-home series against the Lansing Lugnuts (Toronto Blue Jays) with the opener set for 6:05 pm Thursday Apr. 6, at Dow Diamond in Midland, MI.

Earlier this afternoon, defending Calder Cup champions, the Cleveland Monsters of the American Hockey League announced (on the teams official website) the signings of Spirit overage forward Hayden Hodgson along with Boston College defenseman Scott Savage to amateur tryout (ATO) free agent contracts for the remainder of the 2016-17 AHL season.

The Saginaw Spirit (27-32-7-2) did not qualify for the 2017 post season, however, you would not have thought that was the case following a 4-3 loss to the Windsor Spitfires in its final regular season game when an incredible 5,848 (standing room only) fans showed up to support the Spirit at the Dow Event Center tonight.
