This biographical drama articulates the unlikely bond between Queen Victoria and her Scottish servant, John Brown, after her husband’s death. Starring Judi Dench as Queen Victoria, Billy Connolly as John Brown, Geoffrey Palmer as Sir Henry Ponsonby, Antony Sher as Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli, and Gerard Butler as Archie Brown, this film is about Queen Victoria's withdrawal from public life after her husband's death and how John Brown, a former servant of the prince, helps her recover.
