Kick off the holiday season in Old Town & Downtown Saginaw! Fireworks are Friday at 8:30pm from Ojibway Island along with the following activities: FRIDAY City Lighting Ceremonies at 5:45pm Water Treatment Plant; Free Horse Drawn Wagon Rides; Hoyt Library Story Time and READ Association book giveaway 5:30-8:30 PM; Cookie House Competition inside at the Andersen Enrichment Center (Set up from 12:30-2:30 PM, judging at 3:00 PM.; Holiday Market on the Andersen Enrichment Center lawn outside; Free admission at the Saginaw Children's Zoo ($1.00 train and carousel rides); Free Transportation over the Court Street Bridge supported by First Student; Court Street - Free Holiday Concert at Holy Family Church - Washington Avenue - 7:00 to 8:15 PM (Donations of New Hats, Mittens and Scarves collected at concerts for those in need.) Hot Chocolate & Entertainment on the porch at Holy Cross Lutheran Church Santa, Reindeer, Castle Museum Cookie Hut and Free Pony Rides at Borchard Park in Old Saginaw City. Open House at the Montaque Inn with a Saginaw Bay Orchestra pop-up performance; Open House at Japanese Cultural Center - Friday, 5:30 PM - 8:00 PM; Open House at the Mexican-American Council with singers & Mexican treats. Food Vendors on the street. SATURDAY: Cookie House Competition at the Andersen Enrichment Center / Saturday, 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM. Visits with Santa at Morley Plaza on Saturday morning before the Parade. Christmas Parade / Saturday, November 18 at 11:00 AM (featuring floats, marching bands, drill teams, costumed characters, Santa and more). Holiday Bingo at Hoyt Library 2:00 - 3:00 PM; Makers Market at SVRC Marketplace / Friday & Saturday 10 AM - 5 PM. As one of the annual events that are part of 'Holidays in the Heart of the City', this year's Cookie House Competition will be held Friday, November 22, 2024. The set-up is from 12:30 - 2:30pm and judging takes place at 3:00 PM. Cookie Houses will be on display Saturday, November 23, 2024 from 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM.
