Sones De Mexico

Posted in: Concerts

Join Midland Center for the Arts for a night of traditional Mexican folk music with the Grammy Award-nominated ensemble, Sones de Mexico. The ensemble is rooted in Mexican ‘son’ music and plays all-original arrangements: traditional and experimental, true-to-tradition ‘huapangos’ (folk style from northeastern Mexico), and son ‘jarocho’ (Veracruz style), to new hybrids of rock, classical and folk – all performed with contagious energy and resonant elegance. Playing over 30 acoustic instruments from different regions of Mexico and traversing lush vocal harmonies, this adventuresome sextet becomes a small orchestra that explores Mexican folk music and its relevance in the 21st Century. Learn more about this event and purchase tickets today at midlandcenter.org or by calling the ticket office at 989-631-5930. Starts at 5:30 PM. 1801 W. St. Andrews, Midland.
