"The Poetry of Roethke's Loves: Women, Whiskey and Water."

Posted in: Instructional

Friends of Theodore Roethke members invite those attending to bring favorite Roethke poems about some the things he loved and share them by reading them aloud to the group.   In addition to the poems the participants bring, Rosalind Berlin and Rosalie Riegle will read selections from his "Collected Poems" as    well as from unpublished poems. And a highlight will be Janet I. Martineau reading excepts from 12 recently acquired  letters Roethke wrote to an early love interest -- when he was in his mid 20s and teaching at Lafayette College in Easton, Pa., and she (a fellow Saginawian) was attending college at Vassar. Admission is by freewill donation.  Drop ins are welcome any time from 1-4. Light refreshments are served at a 2:30 break. Runs from 1-4 pm at the Theodore Roethke House, Gratiot, Saginaw.
