Theodore Roethke: Environmentalist and Lover of the Muck

Posted in: Instructional

"Roethke’s introduction to nature may have been through the acres of family greenhouses behind his home," says Riegle of the Pulitzer-winning poet who was born and raised in Saginaw. "But he also knew early the wildness of nature in the land his family owned out Gratiot Road, where ducks flew off the muck of Swan Creek 'much less neat,'" as he put it. SVSU Professor & Oral Historical Rosalie Riegle delivers this fascinating presentation at 7 PM. Admission is $15, which includes wine, cheese & fruit. Reservations are required by calling 989-928-0430.
