Moving on up, to the west side.  And a little bit North.  No, this is not the 1970’s sitcom family The Jeffersons, we are talking about, but Tri City Brewing and their sparkling new Tap Room in Bangor Township.

The new facility houses both their successful craft brewing business, as well as an on-site “tap room,” where the beers can be sampled.

The new building replaces the original Tri City Brewing facility in Essexville.  The business started in 2007, releasing Phoenix Golden Ale, its first commercial beer.  The lineup expanded over the next few years, as distribution increased.  Operating under regulations that allow breweries to operate onsite tasting rooms for the products they manufacture, Tri City first started sampling their beer in a “pub-like” atmosphere around a table in the facility’s warehouse.

They followed with the formal opening of a full-service tap room in 2012, the point where the brand really began to explode on the regional and national scene.  Tri City Brewing is now a regular medalist in competitions across the United States.

According to Jena Wendiate, Tap Room Manager, “We will still be doing the same things, but in a new location.  The new facility is bright, open and inviting.”

Among these “things” are presentation of a regular musical line-up, specially themed events and support for community organizations.

“We are also ‘outside food’ friendly,” she continues.  “You can order carry out from other businesses and eat it here.”

It is also worth noting that the tap room is a welcoming place for well-behaved dogs, a feature borrowed from the café culture of Europe.

The taproom features 40 taps, all pouring one of the breweries current line-up of 15 beers.  The company also now has a wine license and is producing wine on-site and they will add specialty ciders in the very near future.

As difficult as it was for the regulars to let go of the comfortable confines of the original tap room, the energy in the new place is palpable.  It immediately becomes one of the nicest business establishments in the area and a destination spot for the region’s aficionados of craft beer.

As Wendiate put it: ” We want this to be a comfortable place for people to come taste and sample our beer and then take some home with you.  We’d like to be the beer that you decide to share with your friends.”

That has to be one of the best sentiments ever for going into business!    You can visit the new Tri City Brewing tap room at 4170 Shrestha Drive, Bay City or call at 989-686-1340.  Find them on Facebook or learn more at TriCityBrewing.com.
