Saginaw Valley State University totally manhandled the Lake Erie Storm on Saturday afternoon 44-13 in GLIAC (Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) action.   Lake Erie coming into Harvey Randell Wickes Stadium with a 0-8 record was very vocal on their sidelines through out the day.    Having followed the GLIAC for the past 32 years this was the worst coached team that I have seen compete.

Trailing 21-7 half way through the 2nd period the Storm started the way to 13 penalties on the day for 140 yards.   They had 6 unsportsmanlike like penalties with late hits and other unsportsmanlike like infractions.   They would score one more time late in the game to get to 14 points on the day.   Neither the coaches or team captains had control of their team.   I can see why this GLIAC team is 0-9 now without doing any research on them.

Back to the Cardinals who now stand at 5-3 in the conference with their toughest two games lying ahead.   They now must face two highly ranked Division II teams in Grand Valley State University (at home) and then on the road to face Ferris State University.    Saginaw Valley State only playing a 10 game schedule this season after several years of 11 games now will have to win both to have an outside chance to qualify for the Division II playoffs.

SVSU who jumped out to a 21-7 halftime lead was lead on the day by running back Tommy Scott Jr. with 13 carries for 151 yards and 2 touchdowns.  Jacob LeClair who have a good day passing and the defense now is playing up the level where they could play in the NCAA Division II playoffs.   It will take a yeoman's effort to win the next two games in the GLIAC but it could be done.
