The Detroit Tigers enjoyed the beautiful weather today at Comerica Park with an exciting 8-6 walk off victory over the Kansas City Royals.   Ian Kinsler hit a 2 run homer in the bottom of the ninth inning for the win.  It was the first time in 6 series that the Tigers won a series against their opponents.   A crowd of 38,900 fans enjoyed perfect weather in watching the Tigers defeat the 1st place Royals and take the series.

The Tigers would fall behind right off the bat 3-0 to the Royals and then come storming back to take a 6-3 lead heading into the 7th inning.   Victor Martinez would be the hitting star on the day with a 3 run Home Run  and follow up with another monster 2 run shot to give the Tigers the lead.   Five different Tigers would have 2 hits on the day.   Anibal Sanchez again today had another average outing going 6 innings and giving up 4 runs before coming out of the game in the 7th inning.   Nothing was settled at that point as the bullpen would give up 2 runs to have the game knotted 6-6 going into the 9th inning.

Alex Wilson would work his way out of a bases loaded mess in the top of the ninth to hold on to the lead and end up getting the victory.   Wilson improved to 2-3 on the season and now appears to the current closer for the Tigers.   The Tigers improved to 53-55 on the season and now are 10.5 games behind the first place Royals.   The realistic expectations are to qualify for the MLB playoffs and go from there.  They will be either 3 or 3.5 games out of the wild card spot depending on the outcome of the Minnesota Twins game tonight.

Fans still flock to Comerica Park in support of the four time Central Division Champions hoping to get in the playoffs for a fifth straight year.   Now with General Manager Dave Dombrowski released from his position it will be interesting to see how the Tigers fare over the last 8 weeks of the 2015 campaign.   I predict that the Tigers will make a strong run for a playoff position once that get that guy named Miguel Cabrera back in the line-up.
