Cindy Hunter Morgan: Harborless

Posted in: Instructional

Great Lakes shipwrecks are the topic of a Roethke Home Museum program with Cindy Hunter Morgan, who will read selections from her award-winning "Harborless," which she describes as a book of poems "informed by Great Lakes shipwrecks." The evening runs from 6-8pm at 1805 Gratiot in Saginaw, and includes a dinner catered by the Savoy followed by Morgan's presentation. The cost is $22 and reservations are required by calling 989-928-0430.
Morgan teaches at Michigan State University. "Harborless" was published by Wayne State University Press in March. It won the 2017 Moveen Prize in Poetry. "Harborless" is part history and part reinvention. Its 40 poems explore wrecks in rivers and lakes, finding and forming artistic meaning from destruction and death.
